A key on Creator drives both, with 300 minutes a month to spend through them. When you outgrow your plan's allowance, extra API minutes cost 4.8¢ down to 2.9¢ each.
Purchased minutes are spendable through the API and MCP only: your plan's monthly allowance is what the studio draws on. An API call spends the allowance first, so the minutes that expire go before the ones that don't.
While you hold purchased minutes, API transcriptions get the paid treatment whatever plan you are on: full-length episodes, timestamps, speaker labels and every export format. The AI generators stay with the plans.

Questions about billing
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade whenever you like. Changes take effect immediately and any billing difference is prorated, so you are never paying for a month you decided against halfway through.
Minutes reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over. If you regularly finish the month with none left, upgrading raises the allowance straight away rather than at the next renewal.
No. You can paste an episode link on the homepage and read a transcript of its opening seconds without an account at all. Signing up for the free plan needs no card either, a card is only involved the moment you pick a paid plan.
New transcriptions are refused, nothing is billed past your plan, and there is no overage charge to be surprised by. Everything already transcribed stays readable, editable and exportable. You can wait for the monthly reset, upgrade for a larger allowance straight away, or buy a pack of extra minutes if you need them through the API.
Yes. Credit packs start at $12 for 250 minutes and the per-minute rate falls as the pack gets bigger. They do not expire on a date, so an unused pack is still there next year, but they are spendable through the API and MCP only, not from the web app, and only while your plan includes API access. Cancelling pauses a balance rather than deleting it: it stays on the account and works again if you resubscribe. That is why they are priced as a top-up for programmatic use rather than as a cheaper plan.
AI credits per day: Creator 50, Pro 130, Studio 250, Podmaxxing 400. One credit is roughly one AI generation: chapters, a summary, show notes or a set of social posts each cost about one. Translating a whole episode costs more, since it is done in parts. Ordinary use is about two credits a day, the count resets daily, and anything already generated stays readable for free.
Yes, 50% off the first month on Pro: $19 for the first month, then $39 a month. It applies automatically at checkout, once per customer, on monthly billing.
